Paid leave to serve parents in Bihar

Patna: Manifesting its sensitiveness towards the senior citizens in the state, Nitish Kumar government is all set to give its employees a 15-days paid leave, once in two years, to serve their parents and in-laws.

The government is speeding up the process to finalise the Leave policy.

The proposal of state social welfare department has already received government’s approval and the procedure for issuing notification on the behalf of finance department is underway.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Principal Secretary of Social Welfare Department VK Verma said, “The new policy of leave will be included in Bihar Service Code Rule as a separate leave category. Employees at all levels can avail the leave.”

He said that the government is also mulling over a new policy for welfare of senior citizens who are helpless, adding that agencies working for old people have been asked for their suggestions.

Verma informed that the process to set up old-age-homes in Gaya, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Darbhanga is also underway.
