New Delhi: Bihar Utsav 2012 was inaugurated by the Governor of Bihar Devanand Konwar on Thursday here at INA Dilli Haat with lighting of Diyas in the august presence of Dr. Renu Kumari, Industry Minister Bihar Government.

The theme of this years’ celebration is ‘Gauravshali 100 Baras’ (Glorious 100 years) of Bihar.

Before the inauguration of Bihar Utsav, a Centenary Car Run from New Delhi to Patna was flagged off from Dilli Haat at 4 pm by Renu Kumari. Each participating vehicle carries a unique theme like Heritage, Pride, Tourism, Women Empowerment, Agriculture, Festivals etc.

Commenting on the rapid pace of development in Bihar, Industry Minister Renu Kumar spoke to Jagranpost, “Bihar is on the path of development. Corporate Houses started taking interest to invest in the state. They have set up several units in the state.”

On the issue of power crisis Renu Kumari said, “Bihar is facing acute shortage of electricity and the state depends on central pool to meet the power requirements in the state.”

Bihar Utsav is being organized at Dilli Haat from March 22-28 and also at expo centre, Noida on March 24-25. As a part of celebration, the main entrance gate of Dilli Haat is decorated with replica of “Vishwa Shanti Stupa”, Rajgir, which is a rich heritage of Bihar.

To make visitors aware about the flavours of Bihar special stalls have been installed selling Bihari cuisines like Litti Chokha, Litchi Juice, Anarsa, Lai, Tilkut is also available in the fair.

The closing ceremony of this festival will be held at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi on March 28 evening. Manoj Tiwari Mridul, will be special attraction of this mega cultural show.

Several prominent persons including Chief Guest Renu Kumari, CK Mishra Principal Secretary, Industry Department Bihar Government and Resident Commissioner Bihar AV Chaturvedi were present on the occasion.
