New Delhi: Bihar Governor Devanand Konwar on Monday met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to present his stand in connection with the controversy surrounding his alleged decision to appoint six Vice Chancellors (VCs) without consulting the state government.

Advisor to Governor, VS Giri Reddy confirmed the meeting. However, he refused to give details about the meeting.

According to the sources, Devanand Konwar met the Home Minister to clear the mess surrounding him over the VCs recruitment issue.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and Human Resource Development Minister P K Sahi have raised questions against Devanand Konwar for not consulting the state government before recruiting VCs for six state universities.

The national spokesperson of ruling Janta Dal (United), Shivanand Tiwary, had also spoken to the Prime Minister over the issue a few days back.
