Patna: In a bid to promote organic farming in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that a road map would be prepared after getting suggestions from expertise in this regard.

“The road map will be a world class model in the organic farming. Farmers will not be pressurized to adopt this farming, but a positive atmosphere will be created for it,” said Nitish Kumar while inaugurating a three-day international conference on ‘Organic Bihar’.

He also inaugurated JB Brand on the occasion which was attended by national and international agricultural experts.

“Farmers have a tendency to follow successful farming. They will be educated about organic farming and will be encouraged to adopt it,” said Kumar.

He said despite being an agrarian state, no consensus has been reached regarding JM seeds and proposed Seed Bill.

“The state government wants to adopt such technology in farming which can be sustained in long run,” he added.

Kumar said, chemical fertilizers and pesticides have posed a major threat to soil, environment and human health.
