Muzzafarpur: The five-day pulse polio campaign in Bihar was kick started by civil surgeon Dr Gyan Bhusan here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhushan said that polio vaccination is essential for every kid upto the age of 5 years. He even urged the panchayats of the villages and their representatives to participate actively in the drive.

Huge turnout was witnessed on the first day. However, instances of negligence was reported from 11 centers in Aaurai, five in Kanti, two in Katara and five in Paru.

It was also found that medicine reached late in the Mushahari division.

Dr Prabha Sinha, Assistant Director of the review committee, District Immunisation Officer Dr. Dineshwar Singh, SMO of WHO Dr Sudhanand, UNICEF officer Rajesh Kumar were also present at the centers.
