New Delhi: Although the sportspersons are gearing up for the Olympics, the Indian artists are also set to enthrall the audiences by their cultural performances.

The Bihu dancers of Assam will be cheered by the crowds in London while campaigning for the Olympics.

A 16-member troupe of dancers will perform the popular ‘Bihu’ dance form of Assam during the Indian campaign for the London Olympics on August 1 and 2 at Royal Festival Hall, South Bank Centre in London.

The dance troupe will be headed by Ranjeet Gogoi, a Bihu promoter, who will lead the team during the trip. Not only this, these Indian dancers will also mesmerize the audience in lakhs during the Olympic torch relay (Flame event) on July 25.

Also, the creations of Utpal Baruah, an associate professor in the department of design (DoD) at IIT, Guwahati, will be exhibited at the ‘Olympic Fine Arts-2012’ to be held in London for the visitors during the Olympics.

It is to be noted, Baruah’s participation in this exhibition calls for great applause as after his stint at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, his left side of the body was paralysed due to brain stroke in the 2009.
