Clinton visited the Jabrauli village, 30 kiliometers off Lucknow and assessed the working of self-help groups here. He also took part in a Clinton Foundation Health Initiative programme and had a conversation with those availing its benefits.

Clinton praised India and South Asia for their incredible performance in the self help group sector.

Addressing the women, Clinton said that they can overcome their poverty by empowering themselves through self help groups.

Legislator of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Chandra Rawat, looked forward for the village to prosper as it was adopted by the Clinton Foundation.

“It is very good that the former president has adopted this village. I also want that this village should develop, as he has assured us,” Rawat said.

Tight security arrangements were made in view of Former US president’s visit. Along with senior police officials, a number of PAC personnel were present.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav welcomed Bill Clinton at the airport.

Bill Clinton is scheduled to travel to Vietnam, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Australia to look into the work of Clinton Foundation.
