From Refugee to Heroine, the stylish diva Kareena has come a long way. Though she has seen extreme ups and downs in her career and personal life as well, this gorgeous lady has showed life thumbing punch always. Her journey from being one of the bindass actresses of Bollywood to becoming the begum of Pataudi Khandan, Kareena has seen a lot. In a candid chat with Sakhi, Kareena Kapoor Khan talks about intricacies of her life and Bollywood journey so far.

In Heroine you gave flesh and blood to the character of an actress who is emotional and eccentric. In your personal life do you have the traits of Mahi Arora?

No not at all….I am a very simple girl who wants to achieve success and that too without putting my family at stake. I am nothing without them. I come from a family of Bollywood masters. So, I know how to strike a balance between extreme conditions.

What were your expectations from Heroine?

I had full confidence in Madhur. Every actor has desire to work with him. Madhur spends lot of time in giving qualitative approach to the story and doing necessary research to add on beauty to the character, which is of course missing in other directors’ work. I am thankful to my audience for their great response.

After Chammak Challo and Halkat Jawani, you are all set to groove as an item girl in ‘Dabangg 2’ as well. Is there any special reason of doing item numbers?

Songs have always been special to me. From Chameli, Jab We Met to Chamak Challo and now Halkat Jawani, all have become popular tracks. This shows item numbers are more captivating and appealing for the crowd. Let’s see how much applause for my latest Dabangg 2 number.

Following your footstep your cousin Ranbir has also entered the ‘Rs 10 crore club’. How do you feel?

Yes, its feel great….When it comes to success I am a bit selfish. Though I feel happy seeing people getting success in their lives, but I am happier when its the ‘Kapoor clan’. My sister Karisma has again retuned to silver screen and I wish her all the best. After ‘Rockstar’, Ranbir has become more mature as an actor. He has proved his mettle as an actor in Barfi .

There are so many actresses who have started their second innings. Does the trend show that Bollywood has started giving importance to actresses and the women oriented films?

The good business of Heroine, which is a complete woman oriented film has proved that audiences are welcoming such genres. Vidya Balan’s Dirty Picture and Sri Devi who returned to big screen after 15 long years with English Vinglish had been appreciated by audiences as well. I will love to do such women centric films in future too.

In most of the cases people can’t handle their success. What’s your take?

Handling success is something which I have learnt from my childhood, courtesy to my clan. Lolo and my mother had taught me how to balance life and be positive in extreme situations.
