On the occasion of his second birth anniversary, we take a look at the best performances by Farooq. Having started with parallel films during the 1970’s and 1980’s, Farooq Sheikh made a mark with ‘Garam Hawa’ which is recognized as a pioneer of new wave Hindi Art cinema.


Farooq worked with the Yash Raj banner for ‘Noorie’ with Poonam Dhillon playing his love interest. The film turned out to be a super hit and became the 7th highest grossing movie at the Box office in 1979.



Farooq then went on to do Gul Anand’s ’Chashme Buddoor’ in 1981. This silver jubilee hit starred him as a lead alongside Deepti Naval.



'Umrao Jaan', one of the most memorable films of Indian cinema with Farooq Sheikh and Rekha as the leads, received critical appreciation and praise for songs and performances by the actors.



'Kissi Se Na Kehna', the Deepti Naval- Farooq Sheikh pair was a total hit during the 80’s. The couple did a sweet romantic comedy in 1983. This well directed film with the amazing performance by the actors made the it a great success.



The 1983, film 'Katha' starring the successful pair- Deepti Naval and Farooq Sheikh alongside Naseeruddin Shah was based on classic tale of the hare and tortoise with the incorporation of the typical Mumbai life in the chawl.



Farooq Sheikh dazzled the screen with his charm alongside Rekha in this comic cinema 'Biwi Ho To Aisi' which also starred Salman Khan.



Deepti Naval and Farooq Sheikh came together in Dilip Dhawan's film 'Saath Saath' in 1982. Great performance by Farooq and amazing ghazals by the late Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh made this film a must watch.



The 2013 blockbuster hit, 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' had Farooq Sheikh playing the role of Ranbir’s father. Farooq's concerned role as a father brought tears to viewers' eyes. Not much of a meaty role but the few minutes of this veteran actor brightens up the screen adding perfection to his role.



'Club 60' was  actor’s last film which was a must watch for every one. All the actors' performances in the film were at par with excellence.
