After sucessfully completing his schooling, Farhan Akhtar pursued Commerce degree from a promient college in Mumbai. In 1991, he kickstarted his career in Bollywood as an assistant director in the film Lamhe.

Later, he along with Ritesh Sidhwani established a production company Excel Entertainment. In 2001, Akhtar made his directorial debut with the film 'Dil Chahta Hai' which garnered positive response and praises followed by a National Award.

He made movies like 'Lakshya', 'Don' and marked his Hollywood debut through the soundtrack of 'Bride and Prejudice' in 2004.

Akhtar had a zeal to explore every strata of the film industry. Finally, he landed up acting for 'Rock On' in 2008. Akhtar was seen in 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' (2011) in which he played versatile role of an actor, producer and writer.

He also directed sequel to 'Don' titled 'Don 2' which did good business at the box office.

Akhtar can never be forgotten for his commendable performance in the film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' in which he portrayed legendary athelete Milkha Singh and earned the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Farhan Akhtar has been a prominent face in the field of acting, producing, directing and writing. As he turned 41 today we wish him a very Happy Birthday.
