You would be surprised to know that the successful actress kick-started her Bollywood journey at the tender age of 16 . In 1973, she played the title role in Raj Kapoor's teen romance based film 'Bobby' where she redefined glamour and grace . She was among those luckiest actors, who achieved fame and success with her debut film itself. Her debut movie was a big success and a great hit at the box office.


Dimple who was a crazy fan of legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, met him at success parties of his films and later according to reports the duo fell in love with each other. Rajesh Khanna proposed her in the year 1973 and they married the same year. Since then Dimple quit the film industry to focus on her married life.


Unfortunately the Dimple and Rajesh decided to part their ways in 1982 and it was then when she decided to make a come back in Bollywood. In 1984, the first film she worked on was Ramesh Sippy's 'Saagar'. Once again, her film witnessed huge success and even the movie was even chosen as India's official entry to Oscars.


She grabbed eye balls in the 1991 released Gulzar film, based on Rabindranath Tagore short story. Her role in the film, is considered one of her finest roles.


From their, she never looked back and gave another hit in 1993, 'Rudaali' was based on a Mahasweta Devi story about women who are hired at funerals as professional mourners. She won a National Award for her commendable acting in the film.


Other notable films Dimple starred in over the years include 'Arjun' (1985), 'Angaar' (1985), 'Prahaar' (1991) and Narasimha (1991).
