Born on April 7, 1942 in Amritsar, Punjab, Jeetendra’s real name is Ravi Kapoor. His parents Amarnath and Krishna Kapoor were into imitation jewellery business.

Jeetendra and Rajesh Khanna attended the same school -- St. Sebastian’s Goan High School in Girgaum and later went to the same college as well -- KC College, Churchgate in Mumbai.

He tied the knot with his childhood love Shobha Kapoor and they have two kids. Tusshar Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor as little kids with dad Jeetendra.

There is a very interesting tale about Jeetendra’s first on screen appearance. He was supplying jewellery to V Shantaram, who ended up casting him as actress Sandhya's double in the 1959 film ‘Navrang’. With his first small role, Jeetendra went ahead to make big in Bollywood.

He got a big break when Shantaram cast him as lead actor in 'Sehra' in 1963 & then in 'Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne' (1964).

He has done almost 200 films till date. Ravikant Nagaich's 'Farz' with Jeetendra in the lead was a golden jubilee success.

One of the songs of the movie 'Farz'- 'Mast Baharon Ka Main Aashiq'  became very popular and the t-shirt and white shoes that he sported in the song became his trademark in Bollywood.

In the 1980s, Jeetendra was frequently paired up with Sridevi and Jaya Prada for remakes of South Indian potboilers.
