She started her singing journey in reality show "Sa Re Ga Ma" when she was just 16 years old. Now she is among the top-notch singers in the industry.



Shreya was born on March 12, 1984 in a Bengali family in Baharampur, West Bengal.

She is best known for playback singing in Hindi films. She has also sung in other Indian languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odiya, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Nepali.


She began her Bollywood career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Devdas for which she got National Film Award  along with Filmfare Award.

She has received numerous awards and nominations, including four National Film Awards for best playback singer, three State Film Awards, five Filmfare Awards, and seven Filmfare Awards South.


Shreya had judged a TV show "Star Voice of India-Chhote Ustaad" along with singer Kunal Ganjawala and composer Pritam.

She was one of the three judges in X Factor India with Sonu Nigam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She also featured in Forbes’ list of the top 100 celebrities of India.


She has given hits like "Manva lage" from "Happy New Year", "Samjhawan" from "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulahania", "Hangover" from "Kick", "Chikni Chameli" from "Agneepath" and many more.

She got married to her long-time boyfriend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya on January 30, 2015.
