Jaipur: Known for their influential charisma, family members of late Ram Singh Bishnoi, a renowned Congress leader and Parasram Maderna, a seasoned politician, of Marwar region are fighting for justice.

The Bishnoi community on Sunday organised a panchayat in Jodhpur’s Gaushala Maidan to express their displeasure against the CBI’s move to interrogate Indira Bishnoi, an accused and sister of arrested Congress MLA Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, family members repeatedly in the Bhanwari Devi murder case.

The community members alleged that the CBI questioning Bishnoi’s family members is ‘unfair’.

According to them, the CBI had called Amri Devi, mother of India and wife of late Ram Singh Bishno, twice for questioning at the circuit house after which she was shifted in ICU at a Jodhpur hospital.

Congress MP from Bhiwani Kuldeep Bishnoi, former deputy Speaker of Rajasthan assembly Ram Narayan Bishnoi and Ram Narayan Jat of All India Adarsh Jat Mahasabha were prominent faces who took part in the panchayat.

Accusing the CBI of being partial in its investigation into the case, the Bishnoi community demanded that the probe should be handed over to some other agency and said, ‘The CBI is also investigating Dariya encounter, Phool Mohammed case (who was burnt alive in a jeep), Gopalgarh communal riots, but it never asked accused family members to come to circuit house for interrogation.’

They also threatened to protest against the CBI between Jaipur-Delhi routes.

Earlier on Saturday, the CBI court ordered the Jodhpur Collector and the Tehsildar to attach Indira Bishnoi’s properties after her date of notice to surrender before the inves1tigative agency expired on Friday.

Indira Bishnoi, absconding since past three months, is a key accused in the case. The CBI court on January 11 declared Indira as an absconder and issued an ultimatum for surrender before the CBI by February 10.

The CBI on Friday had moved an application in the court seeking attachment of her properties.
