The Gandhi scion in a rally on May 1 said that "if the BJP comes to power, peace would be a casualty". He had also said in the rally in Solan that "22,000 people lost lives during the five-year NDA rule in various terrorist activities while 800 people had been killed in the UPA government's five-year tenure".

After meeting the poll panel on Saturday, BJP's Ananth Kumar said the party has requested the Election Commission to ensure that such language is not used.

"We condemn such baseless comments made by him," said Kumar.

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday had also asked the commission to register an FIR against Rahul Gandhi for his comments.
