New Delhi: Even though the BJP has resolved to fight upcoming elections in the five states under a collective leadership, it will be campaigning under the banner of its poster boy, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

By not repeating the mistake done in the 2009 assembly elections, the BJP this time is going to cash in on its biggest mascot, Atal Bihari Vajpeyee. This is the reason that just after the Chief Election Commissioner’s announced of the poll schedule on December 24, the saffron brigade decided to celebrate its forgotten poster boy’s birthday with much pomp and show.

The BJP is striving hard to win back the public support through Vajpayee’s clean image and apt administration. On his birthday his deeds and achievements were again reminded to people through posters and banners. The hoardings were inscribed with the important decisions taken by the former Prime Minister like Gram Sadak Yojana and Swarna Chaturbhuj Yojana.

Significantly, with celebrating Vajpayee’s birthday, the BJP has also initiated its election campaign for 2012 polls. Hence, all the political strategies would now be taken under the guidance of Vajpayee.

"Today is Atalji's birthday and we have decided to observe the occasion as good governance day. Because people still remember the good governance during the Vajpyee-led NDA rule," BJP president Nitin Gadkari told reporters after meeting Vajpayee.

Notably, the party is still paying a price for not using Vajpayee’s name in the 2009 elections. The BJP, therefore, has decided not to forget to talk about Vajpayee’s achievements in every election rally.
