While talking to Dainik Jagran, Trivedi admitted that there were some irregularities in selections of candidates in UP. The BJP could not field even a single candidate from the Kayasth community, while it only doled out three tickets among its traditional vote bank – Vaishyas.

He said the wrongdoing in ticket distribution for Lok Sabah elections in BJP is a result of inexperience and shortsightedness of party leadership in UP.
Even BJP state in-charge Amit Shah sensed the irregularities in ticket distribution procedure quite late.

Trivedi claimed the way entire nation has been rattled with the NaMo wave, it would not be an easy task for political rivals to instigate caste feelings in the state to get them vote against the BJP.

With hopes high in the face of resplendent performance in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in western UP, Trivedi is convinced that BJP would do equally good in the Rohilkhand and Braj regions of the state.

In Purvanchal also BJP would improve its performance, albeit the party would face several impediments in the Awadh region (central UP).

Trivedi also conceded that BJP’s campaign had become one-man-centric but tried to downplay the issue, saying in the past also the party had fought Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of one person – LK Advani in 2009 and Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2004.

Considering party’s poor performance in the Purvanchal region, a question could be raised over the decision to field Modi from the Varanasi seat.

However, Trivedi clarified that, “The performance of BJP in UP was so pitiable in the last general elections that they are sure the party would anyhow improve from their previous tally here in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.”
