"We made it an issue and boycotted the Governor's address and demanded sacking of Mohd Azam Khan from the cabinet," BJP state chief Laxmi Kant Bajpai told reporters here.
He alleged that it was not for the first time that the minister has acted in this manner. "In the past too, Khan behaved in such an undignified manner with previous Governors," he alleged.
The senior Samajwadi Party leader had earlier alleged that the Governor was "acting and behaving like kar sevaks who were responsible for the demolition of Babri mosque".
Bajpai said it was done to develop pressure politics as the governor being the Chancellor of Universities has sought some information from the Chief Minister.
"The ministers are appointed on the recommendation of the Governor and it is clearly mentioned in the Constitution," he said.
Citing the example of Rajiv Gandhi government, he said a minister was sacked for making remarks against the then President Gyani Zail Singh.
The chief minister's silence on this issue proves that the minister is being used as a proxy to attack the Governor, he alleged.
"If the chief minister agrees with the remarks of the minister, he must admit it in public, otherwise he should take example of Rajiv Gandhi's government," he said.
On Noida engineer Yadav Singh's episode, he said the party will raise the issue in the assembly. The SIT inquiry has proved our allegation that the government did not want a CBI inquiry," he added.
