"If you look at the track record, this is not very encouraging in terms of Pakistan being serious in improving terms with India or working towards a better relationship,” said BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli.
"Even when Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the hands of friendship, Pakistan was keener to talk to separatists rather than the Government of India and the talks got cancelled," Nalin Kohli said.
"So all this that is happening should not come as a surprise," he said.
The Pakistan premier on Friday raised up the Kashmir issue at the UNGA and blamed India for "another missed opportunity" to address outstanding issues by cancelling the Foreign Secretary-level talks.
Asserting that a "veil" cannot be drawn over the "core" issue of Kashmir, he said that Pakistan was ready to work for resolution of this problem through negotiations.
