New Delhi: While the Centre has written to political parties seeking their opinion on bringing the PM and higher judiciary under Lokpal ambit, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is unwilling to reveals its card till the time the Union Government comes up with a draft in this regard.

Prior to arriving on a consensus, BJP leaders are discussing the various issues and aspects related to the Lokpal bill. A section of BJP is in favor of keeping Prime Minister and MPs out of the jurisdiction of Lokpal.

The Union government is likely to bring Lokpal Bill in the Monsoon session of Parliament. Though BJP aims to reply the Union government letter, but is reluctant to disclose it though about including PM and judiciary under Lokpal ambit. In fact, party wants to know the intention of the Government before coming up with their version on the issue.

Sources said that during the party’s central parliamentary board meeting on Tuesday, BJP leaders decided to comment only after going through the draft on the bill.

The BJP ruled states will also follow the central leadership’s instructions. A senior BJP leader argued that the parliamentarians do not hold an office of profit, therefore they should not be kept under the jurisdiction area of Lokpal.

It is worth mentioning that the Centre is under immense pressure from Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev on Lokpal Bill, therefore it has decided to seek opinion of political parties and Chief Ministers.
