Hundreds of BJP workers led by vice-president of party unit here, Sarita Gore, took out a procession on Monday and submitted a memorandum to the city Magistrate demanding CBI inquiry into the case.

They alleged that the local police have not arrested anyone in this connection yet.

Akhil Gupta, a witness in a rape case against controversial self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, was shot dead on January 11 this year.

On January 16, a police team probing the killing of Akhil Gupta, had collected a copy of his statement recorded before the Gandhinagar court.

Gupta (35) had given the statement under section 164 of CrPC against Asaram who is accused of sexually assaulting a 16—year—old girl at his ashram in Jodhpur.
