Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said the reports are mere speculations. He said that his party has no stance against individuals and if voted to power, they will only take responsible economic decisions.

Jaitley was responding to a question about media reports that BJP might replace the heads of different regulators including the RBI governor, if elected to power.

A section of the media had earlier reported that Rajan may come under intense political pressure to retreat from his stance on inflation, if BJP’s Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister.

According to sources, most polls have shown BJP winning enough seats to form a coalition government as voters look forward to end the Congress-led UPA government amid the slowest economic growth in a decade.

Rajan has raised the benchmark interest rate by 75 basis points since Congress appointed him to head the Central Bank in September.
