Kolkata: Seeking his intervention in checking the worsening of law and order situation in West Bengal, the state chief of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rahul Sinha, has submitted a memorandum to Governor MK Narayanan here on Tuesday.

The state BJP unit has condemned the Chief Minister’s intervention in the Sunday’s incident at Bhawanipur police station. The delegation has deplored the CM’s action to set the accused free from custody after they were arrested for clashing with the police officials and attacking the police station.

Charging the Trinamool Congress with favouritism , BJP has stated that similar incidents had occurred on several occasions in the past where the party members had chosen to take law and order in their hand.

Earlier on the direction of Minister for Urban Development, Firhad Hakim, the police had to release the accused who allegedly set afire the motorcycle of a police surgeon on August 2.
In a similar incident, one panchayat head who belonged to TMC had managed to free her husband from the police custody in Medinipur district.

The BJP alleged that the TMC is suffering from favouritism and such actions will further affect the morale of police in the state. “It is really important to check such actions in a bid to safeguard law and order situation in the state,” the delegation added.
