New Delhi: With Jharkhand Rajya Sabha re-poll only three days away, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has fielded SS Ahluwalia for the seat, is leaving no stone unturned to sail its candidate through the Upper House.

As a part of making strategy to win the RS re-elections, several senior BJP leaders including L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and party President Nitin Gadkari held talks on Monday in the national capital. The meeting was convened to bridge the communication gap in the party.

Party’s trouble became more intense with indications that All Jharkhand Students Union which has five MLAs in the 81-member assembly is cozying up with JMM’s candidate Sanjeev Kumar. The development has pushed both Nitin Gadkari and CM Arjun Munda in tenterhooks.

The BJP has been finding it hard to garner first priority votes of 27 MLAs to ensure another term for SS Ahluwalia in the Upper House. Earlier, it had decided to extend support to JMM’s candidate for March 30 polls which was cancelled by Election Commission after allegations of horse-trading.
