The whip has been issued as the government is likely to move the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill in the Upper House on Tuesday.

The government has listed the Bill in the agenda for this week for consideration and passage.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with his cabinet colleagues and discussed the strategy for the passage of GST Bill in Rajya Sabha. To turn GST into law, the NDA government needs the support of two-third members of the Upper House .

The GST bill has gone through various changes and the recent one is the dropping of 1 per cent additional tax on inter-state sales and providing guarantee to compensate states for any revenue loss in the first five years of rollout.

The GST Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha in May last year but is stuck in the Rajya Sabha .
