Lucknow: While announcing the party’s 15-member election committee for state assembly polls scheduled for 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party chief in Uttar Pradesh Surya Pratap Shahi alleged the Bahujan Samaj Party government of sheltering the criminals.

The committee to be headed by Shahi also included 10 special invitee members. BJP senior leader Shyam Nandan Singh has been entrusted the responsibility of heading the party’s election management division.

Shahi while interacting with media persons said, “Rather than throwing the criminals behind the bars, the BSP government is providing them shelter, as a result there has been a steep incline in the crime graph of UP.”

He added, “The state government has exposed itself by moving an application in the court to withdraw the criminal cases against seven legislators.” He pointed out that by doing so, the state government was misusing the rights under the Section 321 of CrPC.
