Patna: Alleging the UPA government mired in corruption, the BJP on Monday took potshots at Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram while attacking all other members of the union cabinet.

"Soniaji is the inspiring source of corruption, while Manmohan Singh is a patron. Chidambaram and other members in the Union cabinet are partners," Ananth Kumar, senior BJP leader and in-charge of party Bihar affairs said here.

He was addressing 'Sankhanad Samaroh' organised by the BJP against corruption, price rise and autocratic style of functioning of the Congress government.

Referring to alleged involvement of former Union Minister A Raza, DMK MP Kanimojhi and Congress leader Suresh Kalmadi in the 2G Spectrum scam and CWG irregularities, Kumar said Chidambaram, Textile Minister Dayanidhi aran, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and an official in PMO Jarnail Singh should also be prosecuted in these scams.

The BJP leader said Chidambaram should clarify his position before the Supreme Court and CAG that why did he allow the 2G spectrum allotment when he was Finance Minister.

Kumar alleged that the exchequer had been virtually looted to the tune of Rs 1.76 lakh crore in 2G Spectrum case, Rs 67,000 crore in CWG irregularities and Rs 5.5 lakh crore in S Band irregularities.

According to an estimate, a whopping sum of Rs 10.5 lakh crore as blackmoney was stashed away with the foreign banks, he charged.  Kumar demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who seeks to project "a clean, honest and transparent image" must explain as to what prevented him from appearing before the Public Accounts Committee led by Murali Manohar Joshi probing the CAG report on 2G spectrum.

"The Manmohan Singh government will have to vacate the throne on the issue of corruption and blackmoney, the movement for which has been launched by the BJP the way then Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi had to go following the 1974 JP Movement against corruption," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi said the present situation in the country is akin to the 1974 movement by Jai Prakash Narayan against corruption and 'yoga guru' Baba Ramdev and Gandhian social activist Anna Hazare should not feel 'alone' as the entire country rallied behind them.

Turning to Bihar, Modi said effective steps have been taken for ending corruption where right from Chief Minister to public servants of lower level have already declared the details of their properties.

He said the state government had enacted a legislation provides for confiscation of properties of public servants accumulated beyond their known sources of income.

BJP MP and film star Shatrughan Sinha said the issue of price rise and corruption had not only forced BJP, Anna Hazare, other social activists to take to the path of agitation but even the saints, sadhus and fakirs too have launched stir against the twin issues.

Sinha also opposed the hike in prices of LPG, diesel and kerosene and alleged that the Centre was a total failure to rein in the skyrocketing prices.

BJP national spokesman Ravishankar Prasad urged Prime Minister and Congress President to break their silence over the issue of corruption related to 2G spectrum scam, CWG irregularities and Adarsh House Society Scam.

State BJP President C P Thakur and Health Minister Ashwini Choubey also spoke.
