In a shocking comment that left the saffron party discomfited, Giriraj, who is the BJP’s candidate from Nawada Lok Sabha constituency, had stated that all those opposing Modi should go to neighbouring country Pakistan.

Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari and Nishikant Dubey, the party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Godda seat in Jharkhand, were also present at the stage while Giriraj made these controversial comments.

His controversial comments drew flak from all the rival parties as a breach of the Model Code of Conduct.

Despite the BJP distancing itself from his comments, Giriraj remained unfazed and stuck to his comments.

Giriraj told a news agency in Patna: “I stand by my statement that those trying their best to stop Modi from coming to power have no place in India and should go to Pakistan whose interests these Modi-baiters have sought to espouse by opposing him in the polls”.

The FIR against the BJP leader has been filed at the Mohanpur police station on the directives of Deoghar SDM Jay Jyoti Samanta, who is also the Deputy Returning Officer.

Samanta while quoting the CD of his hate comments said Giriraj’s comments endorse hatred and enmity.

Samanta said several Sections under IPC were charged against Giriraj, including 406 (criminal breach of trust), 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity between classes), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy to commit an offence punishable with death, imprisonment for life or rigorous imprisonment for a term of two years or more).
