Bhopal: Launching a tirade against Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s ‘thug’ remarks, BJP general secretary Narendra Singh Tomar has described him as a ‘villain’.

Taking a swipe at the Congress leader, Tomar said, “Since Digvijay is well aware of the fact that he cannot be the hero of the Congress party, he has decided to become the villain.” Tomar was talking to the reporters on Friday.

“It is a well known fact that only a member of Gandhi family can become the leader of Congress. Digvijay also knows this well. It is for this reason; he makes such comments which turn him a baddie if not a hero,” he said, adding Digivijay’s remarks are a reflection of falling standards of politics.

Tomar informed that his party has decided to launch a nationwide protest against the midnight police crackdown on Baba Ramdev and his followers at Ramlila Maidan.

“With its wrongdoings, the Congress has tarnished Indian democracy on two occasions. In order to save its government once it imposed Emergency and on the other it bought MPs to vote in its favour. And now it is suppressing those raising the voice against corruption,” Tomar said.

Tomar reiterated his party’s support to Baba Ramdev in his fight against corruptiom. “It was BJP which first raised the issues of corruption and black money. It has been carried forward by Baba Ramdev. BJP supports Ramdev. The midnight crackdown on Baba Ramdev at Delhi’s Ramleela Maidan signifies the death of democracy. The Centre should order an inquiry into the matter along with taking action against the tainted ministers and officials,” he said.
