As the elections are approaching, the party seems in no mood to delay in naming its candidates for LS seats. In this regard, it has also called the first meeting of central election committee on February 3.

Sources in the BJP said that the parliamentary board is expected to convene meeting on February 3 during which the party leaders from smaller states like Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Andaman and North-eastern states will be present.

Earlier, party chief Rajnath Singh has asked state units to finalize their recommendations for nominations aptly. The sources said that the party chiefs of over dozens of states have been asked to bring their recommendation lists of candidates in the meeting on February 3. The party is expected to take a call on finalizing candidates for the LS seats in smaller states.

The party will convene another central election committee meet on February 15 when candidates for bigger states including Uttar Pradesh may be finalized.
