Bhopal: The Opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday took potshot at the ruling BJP for "forgetting" its veteran leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee and "suddenly remembering" him when elections are around.
BJP leaders had "forgotten" their "poster boy" Vajpayee for a long time, but were now "remembering" him as elections are nearing, Leader of Opposition in Assembly Ajay Singh said in a statement here.
He referred to the decision of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government to put up Vajpayee's photographs in all State Government offices and Panchayats on his 88th birthday on Sunday.
Ajay said none of the State BJP leaders had visited the former Prime Minister in the last one year. But all of a sudden they were now remembering him with polls in mind.
The Congress leader maintained there are reasons to doubt the BJP Government's motives to put up photographs of the veteran politician at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
