Ranchi: Former Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, SS Ahluwalia’s dream to re-enter the Upper House seems to be withering with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha announcing to field its own candidate Sanjeev Kumar in the Rajya Sabha re-polls. Moreover, the JMM played a coalition card to get its candidate elected.

Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren on Sunday said, “The JMM remains firm on its stand. The party’s official candidate Sanjeev Kumar enjoys support of all the 18 JMM MLAs. Now, the alliance partners should stick to the dharma of coalition politics by supporting the JMM candidate.”

“Informal talks have been held with Chief Minister Arjun Munda and All Jharkhand Students Union president Sudesh Mahato in this regard. The picture will become clearer in the next two-three days,” said junior Soren.

“It’s not surprising that BJP has fielded its own candidate in the RS re-polls. The saffron party has not consulted JMM before fielding SS Ahluwalia,” added the JMM leader.

Commenting on his talks with the BJP high command in Delhi, the Deputy CM said, “The alliance partners should ensure that the RS re-polls should not reflect political bickering among the alliance partners.

It’s worth mentioning that a candidate needs to get first priority votes of 27 MLAs in the Jharkhand assembly to ensure his victory in the RS re-polls.
