Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Slamming the UPA government over its lax attitude towards handling corruption, the senior leader of BJP Rajnath Singh here on Friday said that in spite of the nationwide protest against corruption the government is reluctant to take the menace head on.

Interacting with mediapersons in Ujjain, Rajnath said, “The whole nation is tensed about beating corruption and bringing back the black money stashed abroad, but our government is showing no sense of seriousness on the issue.”

“This is the reason why Anna Hazare is gaining massive support of the common man,” he added while extending his party’s support to Anna’s campaign against corruption.

Senior BJP leaders including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, Lal Krishna Advani, Rajnath Singh, Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitely are in Ujjain to participate in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) six-day All-India Coordination Meeting that started on August 16.

BJP president Nitin Gadkar arrived in the city on Thursday.
