New Delh (JPN/Bureau): The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to soften its stand on fight against UPA government on corruption charges in order to maintain the Opposition’s solidarity in Parliament.

Scaling down its demand for inclusion of the CWG and the Adarsh Housing scams in the ambit JPC probe, the BJP has accepted government’s view to constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the 2G scam only, which was buttressed by other opposition parties too.

However, the BJP made it clear that it would remain unbend in consonance with other Opposition parties to corner the government on other corruption charges.

Having stalled the entire Winter Session of the Parliament following its demand over JPC probe into big scams like 2G spectrum, CWG and Adarsh Housing, the Opposition has been sticking to its JPC demand.

However, the government has ruled out a wider scope for the JPC to cover the irregularities found in the Commonwealth Games and the Adarsh Housing Society scam as well.

Fearing its stand on the JPC probe may hit the Opposition’s unity, the BJP is now attempting to thin down its political blow.

Ever since the BJP has come on back foot after senior BJP leader Advani expressed his regret to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on black money issue, the saffron party is looking for a face-saving passage.

After the party spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad’s statement on Friday, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi has appreciated Advani’s move.
