Dehradun: After incurring defeat in Uttarakhand at the hands of the Congress though by a slender margin of one seat, the Bharatiya Janata Party has begun ‘operation clean’ to delve out the causes of the drubbing in the state.

As a part of the drive against errant leaders, the state BJP unit has so far issued notice to 115 partymen whose “indiscipline” dented the party’s prospect during the crucial elections in the state.

“We have issued notices to 115 party workers against whom we have received reports of indiscipline during the polls,” said Bishan Singh Chufal, state BJP chief.

As per the sources in the party, BJP leadership finds it too difficult to digest Khanduri’s unexpected defeat in Kotdwar assembly constituency which at the end played decisive role in the race of forming government in the state. While it has started to zero in on the leaders responsible for Khanduri’s defeat, many heads are set to roll.

Party leaders are of the view that, had Khanduri won his seat, party would have trounced Congress again. This is the reason why party is giving more importance to trace the factors responsible for the Kotdwar defeat.

According to the sources, party has issued notice to many leaders in the constituency seeking reasons for the Khanduri’s defeat, besides, looking into the reasons of prevalent infighting in its state unit which is one of the reasons of it losing the state.

However, local BJP leaders of Kotdwar denied confirming any such notice being issued from state party unit.

“I have no information regarding any notice issued to any of the partymen, but if the party seeks any information regarding the polls, we will let them know our stand,” said, Shailendra Singh Rawat, former BJP MLA, Kotdwar who was denied ticket from the seat for Khanduri.

Moreover, the party is also concentrating on finding the degree of damage caused due to the rebels who were denied ticket in the assembly elections.  It is said that in more than two dozen seats, dissidents posed huge challenge to party’s candidate leading to the huge loss.
