Ranchi: After facing debacle in Jamshedpur parliamentary by poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to extend support to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) instead of its trustworthy ally Janata Dal (United) to win the battle of ballots in Mandu.

In a bid to save its pride, the ruling party BJP has formed a pre-poll alliance with JMM ahead of the Mandu by-polls.

JVM leader Babulal Marandi is already campaigning in the Mandu constituency to mark victory for his party candidate.

Addressing a meeting of the party workers in Kuju, Chief Minister Arjun Munda said, “Keeping in mind the interests of the state the BJP is giving support to the JMM.”

Meanwhile, the Congress has also deputed senior party workers to campaign in the region. Former Union Home Minister and the party In-charge in Jharkhand, Dr Shakeel Ahmed, is campaigning for the party candidate.

Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal is likely to reach Mandu on November 28.

Mandu by-poll will be held on November 30. The poll is being conducted following the death of JMM leader.
