“Omar should concentrate on providing good governance in his state where even elected representatives are not safe,” BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

"What is our position on Giriraj Singh's comments we have made it very clear,” she added.

Sitharaman used the occasion to highlight the deteriorating law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Abdullah should remember that going to Pakistan or criticizing Modi is alright for him but what is happening in J&K. Sarpanches and their family members are getting killed. In the past too, such law and order problems occurred where he failed to protect even elected representatives," Sitharaman said.

“I think what is important for Jammu and Kashmir CM is to concentrate in his state and provide governance so that people have every reason to feel they are in safe hands,” she added.

In a sarcastic reference to BJP leader Giriraj Singh’s controversial statement that all those who oppose Modi should settle in Pakistan, Omar had said that he would not stop criticizing his Gujarat counterpart and would rather take a bus to the neighbouring nation.

”Today we are getting threat after threat…..We have the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service. So, I would not need to go to Delhi or Amritsar to cross the Wagah border ....I will get a ticket from here to Muzaffarabad because I will not stop opposing Modi,” Omar said while addressing an election rally on Monday in Anantnag district.
