New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janta Party took a sigh of relief after Maharashtra, Bihar and Hisar by-poll results. Bolstered with the victory of its party candidates in different constituencies, the BJP has declared the results as common man’s verdict against the Congress.

LK Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra that was jolted after the arrest of BS Yeddyurappa has got a new lease of life. More importantly, the defeat faced by the Congress contestants is much important than the victory of BJP candidates in the by-polls of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. Interestingly, the BJP has gained success in Lok Sabha seats in Hisar and Assembly seats in Daraunda in Bihar and Khadakwasla in Maharashtra by forming alliances in these states.

The victory in Khadakwasla by-polls was the result of Republican Party’s impact on the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. Meanwhile, the new tie up between BJP-Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) marked victory in Hisar by-polls.

Claiming it as the victory for NDA, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said, the debacle in by-polls is an alarm bell for the Congress.

Surprisingly, trying to evade from Anna Hazare’s effect on BJP’s success in elections, Shahnawaz said that Anna’s appeal to vote against the Congress did not make any particular party win the elections.
