"Rahul Gandhi has hinted that the government can do wrong but not the (Nehru-Gandhi) family," Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi trashed the ordinance on Friday saying, "It should be torn and thrown away".

The ordinance was approved by the cabinet on September 24 and is with President Pranab Mukherjee. Prasad said that Gandhi gatecrashed into a press interaction of Congress chief spokesperson Ajay Maken after Mukherjee questioned some ministers over the ordinance.

The BJP leader said that Gandhi's statement was designed to create discomfort for the President. He asked the government what was its view on the matter now as the President acts on the advice of the union council of ministers, which had approved the ordinance and forwarded it to the President.
