Haridwar: The ruling BJP in Uttarakhand on Sunday said that it would announce the name of candidates to be fielded from different constituencies for the forthcoming Assembly elections by January 5.

Names of shortlisted candidates would be sent to the party’s central leadership by January 1 or 2.

Soon after attending a programme organised by BJP Yuva Morcha in Laksar, Uttarakhand BJP president Bishan Singh Chuphal expressed concern that cold may influence the voting.

He said, “Around January 30, the hilly region witness snowfall. It can affect the voting percentage.”

Singh added, “All preparations have been done by the BJP for upcoming Assembly elections. After election committee’s meeting the list will be forwarded to the central leadership and nominations will be completed from January 5 to 12.”

“Apart from Central Government’s partial attitude towards Uttarakhand, state government’s achievements will be the burning issue for the election,” he opined.
