Jammu: Irked over the state government’s permission to hold debate in the J&K Assembly for clemency to Afzal Guru, who is convicted in the Parliament attack case, the Bharatiya Janata Party has threatened to disrupt the proceedings of the House.

The party has declared that the J&K government will be responsible if things turn bad during the proposed discussion scheduled on September 28.

Speaking to the reporters in the party headquarters, BJP chief whip Ashok Khajuria and chief spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh said on Monday that the BJP will expose those Congress leaders who are mute spectators on this issue.

The BJP leaders alleged that some Congress leaders are in league with the ruling National Conference regarding the Afzal case.

This is the reason that the resolution moved by Independent MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid seeking clemency for Afzal who has been sentenced to death for his involvement in the attack on Parliament in December 2001 was accepted, the BJP leaders said.

The BJP leaders also mentioned that Assembly had rejected the Parliamentary Resolution of 1994 on J&K submitted by the BJP but at the same time resolution on clemency for Afzal Guru has been accepted.
