New Delhi: The candidates list released by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) came as a disappointment for the ticket seekers belonging to Poorvanchal. With the announcement of names on the last day and thereafter distribution of tickets to them with the tight fist has raised risk for the party in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.

Earlier, the BJP laid stress on fielding 50-60 party workers from Poorvanchal region in the Urban Local Body elections, it gave tickets to only 14 such candidates.

The senior BJP worker associated with Poorvanchal said, "We support the party which did not promote leaders from the region in Delhi politics. More so, the workers who are extending their services to the party are being sidelined by the high command.

“For the last few years the party has been showing non-considerate stance towards the Poorvanchal workers. If the condition persists, workers would turn blind eye towards the party,” said one of the party workers.

Following the intense protest by the party workers on ticket distribution, the party high command secretly gave symbols to those candidates on Sunday night. If the sources are to be believed around 60 candidates from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were in the race to get tickets. The Poorvanchal workers in the league included those names with political stronghold.
