Bhopal: The Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress are leaving no stone unturned for the upcoming by-election in the Jabera constituency in Madhya Pradesh. While the Congress has announced the name of former chief minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi as its star campaigner, the name of former MP Chief Minister Uma Bharti is missing from the campaigners’ list of BJP.

The Congress list includes the name of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi but he is unlikely to campaign for the polls.

Surprisingly, the BJP has not included the names of firebrand leader Uma Bharti and Prahlad Patel in the list of star campaigners despite both being ‘Lodhs’ – the caste which dominates the Jabera assembly seat.

Out of the four by elections held so far for the 13th Assembly in the state, Congress has been able to win only Jabera seat. In such a scenario, Congress wants to win the Jabera by-elections at any cost. The prominence of BJP in Madhya Pradesh has become a cause of concern for the Congress.

The list of star campaigners handed over to the Election Commission by the Congress includes the names of Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, Congress leader VK Hariprasad, Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath, state Congress President, Kantilal Bhuria, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia.
