Kolkata: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Thursday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani for secretly helping out Communist Party of India-Marxist in West Bengal.

Mamata, who was once part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in two phases between 1999 and 2000, on Thursday went on to accuse the Left and Right parties of being in collusion.

Addressing the media persons, she alleged that LK Advani was helping the Communists by campaigning in constituencies where her party candidates were in fray.

"This shows the BJP has targeted the Trinamool to help the CPM. In fact, they have tied up with the CPI-M," she said.

Targeting the senior BJP leader, Banerjee said she had no respect for the BJP stalwart as she never supported the destruction of Babri mosque.

"I respect his age, but I don't respect him as a leader. I never supported destruction of the mosque," Mamata charged.
