The BJP team led by senior leader Tathagatha Ray tried to enter the village with a vehicle carrying relief materials such as milk powder, water, edible items for the villagers.

"We were not allowed to enter the village by citing Sec 144 CrPC. We told them that only two of us will go with the relief material but they didn't allow us. Later, the police told us to hand over the relief material to them. But we denied because we feel that the police will hand over the material to Trinamool Congress," Ray said.

The incident comes three days after BJP vice-president Muktar Abbas Naqvi along with other central leaders were arrested for trying to enter the village where three persons were killed in violence on October 27 when also the prohibitory orders was clamped there.
