Gurgaon: Black Light Theatre, a performance style using fluorescent costumes, black curtains, darkened stage and UV lighting, is coming to India from Prague, Czech Republic to entertain audiences here for the first time.

This form of stage performance is characterised by the use of black box theatre augmented by black light illusion and will be seen at the Kingdom of Dreams here.

Performers wear fluorescent costumes in order to create intricate visual illusions with the help of black lighting (UV light) to perform dance, mime and acrobatics.

"We hope to capture the imagination of the audiences with The Black Light Theatre. It is a pleasure to present the Czech culture and their unusual theatre technique for the Indian audience. This show adds to the list of international shows which we have brought to India," Viraf Sarkari, Director of Kingdom of Dreams, said in a statement.

Black Theatre originated in Asia and has become a speciality of Prague, where many theatres use it.
