The issue of black money has always topped the charts of NDA’s to do list, which is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unearth and bring back the black money stashed in safe havens abroad.
The SIT on black money had earlier sought details of all major cases of tax evasion and criminal financial fraud being probed by various investigating agencies.
As per reports, the SIT headed by retired Supreme Court Justice M B Shah has asked the 11 departments on its panel to furnish fine details of these cases and the status of their probes, including any problems being faced by investigators in taking the cases forward for prosecution or penalty.
India’s efforts to crackdown on black money stashed abroad have taken a major boost in the recent past with Switzerland readying a list of Indians suspected to have un-taxed money in Swiss banks. The SIT has assured action if any illegality was found.
