Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra on Monday ordered that the bodies of seven Amarnath pilgrims from Bihar be sent to their home town by air.

"The bodies of seven Amarnath Yatris who lost their lives in the bus accident at Ramban will be sent by air to Darbhanga," Vohra, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), said.

A bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims had rolled down into a gorge near Ramban on Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Saturday killing 15 pilgrims.

Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned Rs one lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 10,000 to each of the 18 injured.

The remaining pilgrims who died in the accident belonged to neighouring states and their bodies will be sent by road, an SASB official said.
