Mumbai: Several Bollywood personalities today attended a condolence meeting held in the memory of Dr Ashok Chopra, father of actress Priyanka Chopra, at a suburban five-star hotel in Mumbai yesterday.

Dr Ashok Chopra, 62, who had served as a physician in the Indian Army, passed away on 10th June at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital after a prolonged battle with cancer.

A teary-eyed PC shared fond memories of her father with those assembled. The actress, who shared her father’s fondness for music, played a few music tracks that were his favourites. As per the tradition, PC’s younger brother Siddharth wore a pink turban.

Among the current crop of actors, Rani Mukerji was one of the first to arrive while PC’s close friend Uday Chopra stayed on till the end. The ballroom of the suburban hotel where the prayer meeting was held was filled with white flowers. Her cousin Parineeti stayed by PC’s side throughout the afternoon, while the actress seemed composed in comparison to Monday, when Dr Chopra passed away.

A string of tinsel town personalities including Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Madhur Bhandarkar and others attended the prayer meeting held at J W Marriott in suburban Vile Parle.

Dressed in white, Bollywood's who's who, including Kareena Kapoor with sister Karisma, Rishi Kapoor and wife Neetu, Vidya Balan, Rani Mukherjee, Ranveer Singh, Shilpa Shetty, Deepika Padukone, attended the meeting. Also spotted were Zoya Akhtar, Rakesh Roshan, Rohan Sippy, Imran Khan, Uday Chopra, Arbaaz Khan with wife Maliaka, Madhur Bhandarkar, Anurag Basu, Hiroo Johar, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Nikhil Advani, Dia Mirza, Isha Koppikar and others.

Priyanka had reportedly cancelled all her shoots and was by his side for the last few days.

A doctor by profession, Ashok Chopra had retired from the Indian Army in 1997 as lieutenant colonel. He is survived by his wife Madhu, also a former army doctor, daughter Priyanka and son Siddharth.
