Ahmedabad: Bollywood’s action hero Akshay Kumar expressed his displeasure over the conditions of Mumbai roads after he travelled Gujarat.

Appreciating the development made by the Gujarat government, he also championed for Sachin Tendulkar’s Bharat Ratna award.

Promoting his upcoming movie ‘Thank You’ with Bobby Deol, here, Akshay Kumar said that he’s been travelling in Gujarat for three years and the pace of development in the state is commendable.

“Gujarat’s smooth and flat roads are example of its progress,” said Akshay.

Akki, as he is fondly called, said that after seeing roads in Gujarat, he feels embarrassed to travel on Mumbai roads.

“When will the condition of the Mumbai roads improve? If Gujarat can progress, why is development process in Mumbai and other states stuck?” he asked.

Usually maintaining distance from politics and controversial statements, Akshay lauded the efforts of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and stated that it was because of Modi that the state was doing so well.

“For the last three years my movies are doing well at the box-office and maximum business took place in Ahmedabad,” he said.

Congratulating Team India for winning the World Cup 2011, he said that Sachin Tendulkar should get Bharat Ratna. “Sachin should get all the Ratnas of the country,” the actor added.

When asked about buying an IPL Team like Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta, he said, “I don’t understand this business so I don’t want to invest in it.”
